‘To be the best that we can be,
in our Christian Family’
Head Teacher, Mrs Liz McAvan of St John’s Primary School. Mrs McAvan has
demonstrated an unqualified commitment to achieving the highest standards in
all aspects of the school’s activities and is without doubt someone for her
staff to respect and look up to.
Pupils at St John's, Keele Church of England Primary School are drawn not only
from the village and Keele University campus but also from the wider surrounding
area. The church and school enjoy an excellent relationship with the vicar
regularly conducting assembly in the school and pupils playing a very active
role in the monthly Family Services. We are particularly grateful for the
encouragement Mrs McAvan has given to links with St John’s church.
Whilst the school is essentially Church of England, this does not mean that
other creeds and religions are barred and it has a very interesting mix of
children from a wide variety of cultures enabling all to have a good
understanding of each other.
A number of the children prepare for and take key roles in the monthly Family
Service in St. John's Church, usually each fourth Sunday of the month, though
this can vary according to important Holy days and of course the school
holidays.
